Shasta College was the setting for Erosion Control Summit #1: a two day BMP workshop with Course instructors John McCullah and David Franklin who have teamed up for a number of years on Caltrans deliveries around the state.

Day one was in a classroom setting and on day two we moved outdoors. Walking around the Shasta College Erosion Control Training Facility with the man-made “Mt. McCullah”, attendees heard about the principles of erosion and sediment control in ways they’d not heard…paradigm shifts if you will. And also, the selection process for BMPs and how to keep the BMP toolbox full of options. I think everyone was impressed by the exhibitors who displayed their products with the practical informative we are all want. John and I were impressed by some of the new products. Someone noted that the attendees had a much higher than normal, “cling” factor, listening attentively…not all that kibitzing and wandering off for phone calls. Folks really came to learn and get those ongoing education units (PDU & CEU).
